Meet Margaret

I'm Margaret Spear, and I'm running for State Representative because I believe District 3 deserves practical leadership with real-world experience solving problems, managing complexity, and getting things done.

I grew up in a small college town in Indiana, went to college in Seattle, and began my career in tech and operations in Austin. Over the years, I've built a career around helping teams move from big ideas to real results. I've worked with strong-willed leaders, managed competing priorities, helped build systems from the ground up, and learned how to keep people focused when the work is complicated and the stakes are high.

Today, I serve as Chief of Staff for a local civil engineering firm. In that role, I help keep projects moving, budgets balanced, teams aligned, and decisions grounded in reality. I work in the kind of environment where details matter, deadlines matter, communication matters, and problems do not get solved by slogans. They get solved by listening, planning, coordinating, and following through.

That is the kind of leadership I believe we need at the Capitol.

State Representatives should be more than partisan placeholders. They should understand how decisions affect real people, local governments, schools, small businesses, infrastructure, health care access, and family budgets. They should be willing to do the work, ask the hard questions, and represent the whole district, not just the people who already agree with them.

I chose to put down roots in Ringgold because I wanted a place where I could build a real life: closer to family, closer to nature, with room for a home, a garden, animals, and community. Since moving here, I've become even more convinced that the people of Northwest Georgia deserve leadership that reflects who we actually are: hardworking, generous, independent-minded, and tired of politics that try to turn neighbors against each other.

After 18 years with no Democrat challenging the Republican Party in Catoosa County, I'm running to make sure District 3 has a real choice and a representative who is ready to be held accountable to this community.

I live in Ringgold with my family and our animals, and I care deeply about the future we are building here.
